EVE: Equal Voices in ELT is an organisation which aims to achieve gender equality and local representation at conferences and other ELT (English Language Teaching) events. EVE was born from an idea by Sue Leather and Fiona Mauchline in 2017.
We started in 2018 by giving badges to conferences which achieved parity in plenary and keynote line-ups. In 2020, we began running mentoring programmes, working with Teachers’ Associations around the world to mentor a new generation of women speakers. In 2025, Mentoring is the biggest part of what we do, and we are currently working with eight countries and regions around the world.
EVE is currently managed by four ELT professionals Sue Leather, Aleksandra Popovski, Maureen McGarvey and Christopher Graham.
